WHENUAPAI

Fantastic  Whenuapai Fly in Sat 21st June. Thanks to Brian Millet and Gunther Bartel who sparked the idea and obtained approval from Base Commander, Wing Commander Stuart MacKenzie and Base Operations Flt Lt Neal Crowford. Thanks to the Host Club at Whenuapai for making us most welcome and letting us use their facilities with new carpet and our muddy boots. The RNZAF  gave us guided tours and  their Controllers, Sqdn Ldr  Chub Roberts and Adam Lawson gave up their casual Saturday to sort our motley lot out. Thanks too, to the Gliding Club and other operators who kindly shut down their Ops to let us "invaders" in and out, the Roskill Modellers at Pikes Point who did likewise, and lastly, to our own pilots who followed their briefings and instructions, generally displayed great airmanship and were a credit to their respective Clubs.

Come back Anton. You can't take it around the block on a microlight licence!

Good bye old friend, sorry to see you go ---

But Hello Baby, why don't you & I take off for somewhere private like the Bahamas?.

"LOK, FTE and FVG, cleared to land behind the a/c on short final grass 26, break, TOY cleared to land 26 seal". "Roger Tower, thanks, & you're cleared to control at Los Angeles and  pick up $200 as you pass Go!"

Thanks for a great day Whenuapai and long may the airfield stay operating. Keep up the good work to keep it going Mayor Bob.

Look carefully in the middle. Is this flying Bantam Business Class?

50 mins after, "The fly in is today Don, not tomorrow!" TOY touched down at Whenuapai.

Just too sleek, should be banned. Causes me depression. Devon 08 from Ardmore in background.

Gary's SOLar clock, (sundial) was out by 30 min due cloud cover so was 10 min late. SOL will be appropriated to the Defence Dept in due course.

Who sez class doesn't matter. Young Mathew was seen wandering off hand in hand with a pretty girl not long after arrival.
